The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of South Africa, in partnership with the South Africa and Kazakhstan Trading and Cultural Association (SAKTCA), convened a high-level Round Table Trade Gathering on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, under the theme:
“The Development of Business and Investment Relations with Kazakhstan”
The gathering brought together diplomatic representatives, business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors and other stakeholders to explore practical opportunities for expanding trade, investment and economic cooperation between South Africa and Kazakhstan.
The event was hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in South Africa and organised by South Africa and Kazakhstan Trading and Cultural Association (SAKTCA)
The proceedings were expertly guided by Mr Tshepo King Machethe, a Senior Partner at Phosa Legacy Group and a Senior Fellow at AIFOD (AI For Developing Nations Forum – United Nations) who served as Master of Ceremonies for the gathering.
The programme featured an address by H.E. Mr Yerkin Akhinzhanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to South Africa, who highlighted the importance of strengthening economic and commercial relations between the two countries.
The gathering also benefited from the participation of distinguished diplomatic and business representatives, including H.E. Ambassador Dr Lavina Ramkissoon, Co-Chair and Ambassador at the African Union.
Discussions focused on opportunities across areas including trade and exports, manufacturing, energy, investment, textiles, retail and other sectors, with participants exploring potential partnerships, import and export opportunities, joint ventures and avenues for increased bilateral business engagement.
A dedicated Questions and Answers Session provided participants with an opportunity to engage directly on issues affecting trade and investment cooperation. The subsequent lunch and networking session created an informal platform for business leaders to establish contacts and explore potential collaborations.
The organisers expressed their sincere appreciation to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in South Africa, H.E. Ambassador Yerkin Akhinzhanov and the diplomatic team for their leadership and commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations.
SAKTCA was also recognised for its efforts in creating a platform that connects South African and Kazakhstani business communities and promotes practical cross-border economic cooperation.
The Round Table was positioned not as a one-off gathering, but as a platform for developing long-term and practical business relationships between South Africa and Kazakhstan.
Participants were encouraged to transform the discussions and contacts established during the gathering into concrete commercial partnerships, investment initiatives and sustainable trade opportunities.
A New Chapter in Bilateral Economic Cooperation
The Round Table demonstrated the significant potential for cooperation between South Africa and Kazakhstan and reaffirmed the commitment of stakeholders to building stronger commercial channels between the two markets.
The organisers expressed their hope that the relationships initiated at the gathering will lead to increased bilateral trade, investment, joint ventures and business-to-business cooperation, contributing to stronger economic ties between South Africa and Kazakhstan.
The event concluded with appreciation to all participating diplomats, business leaders, entrepreneurs, speakers, media partners and guests.
The organisers also extended their appreciation to the management and staff of the Royal Tayfin Hotel and Conference Venue for their hospitality and support.
