At the opening of the plenary session of the Regional Ecological Summit, remarks were delivered by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow, the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, the President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme Inger Andersen, as well as the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Tatiana Molcean.
The Regional Ecological Summit is being organized in cooperation with the United Nations and other international organizations. The platform aims to develop comprehensive policies and mechanisms for the protection, restoration, and shared use of ecosystems, water and land resources, as well as to preserve the biodiversity of the Central Asian region.
